External Equilizers....

88 C5
Thought I might slip a .5 din equilizer in just to fill the gap. Do they help? My stuff is Pioneer so not too expensive. Any thoughts?

yeah. you can use the EQ to reduce problem frequencies.

Go for it.It reuces the gap, and keeps you from getting some of the horrible 1.5 DIN headunits. Plus it gives you some more tuning capabilities.

Just for example, the pioneer one hasn't changed in 4 or 5 years. Maybe more. its OLD technology. The single dins will have the newer technology and are much, much nicer.
