Need help - Removing and mounting external crossovers
I'm replacing my rear speakers this weekend (new ones finally arriving today). The aftermarkets that are installed right now (one cone is cracked due to poor install) have the crossovers glued to the inner fender wells.
Questions:
What type of glue was used? I think a shop did the install.
How do I remove them without damaging the fender well?
My new speakers also have an external crossover, what glue should I use to mount them?
Re: Need help - Removing and mounting external crossovers (74-Roadster)
what glue was used it anybodys guess. Alot of shops use hot glue and silicone but it could be something else. If it is glues directly to a body panel I would either leave it alone or try twisting it clockwise or counterclockwise. Doing that should not harm your body panel.Prying on it most likely will.
For the new crossover I would not glue it. I would use a dbl sided tape like something from 3M.Most automotive parts stores carry a 3M tape in the body section. It is gray or white with a red covering. That tape will hold forever but still come off if you want it to.
Good luck
