it seems with the pass. seat all the way back there is only like 1/2" clearance behind it. I have power sport seats so I cannot put it under it, any other suggestions? I really dont want it all the way in back if possible and Id like to keep it hidden.
Thanks
dave

Re: where to mount amp in a c5 convert? (TT_Vert)
Hmmm. I mounted mine on the box in the center compartment. Depending on your amp size you could mount it in a side compartment, make a new cover with a circulation fan in it to keep it cool. This can also be done by running a pvc port through the box on both sides (sealed off from the airspace) and a fan blowing in one, blowing out on the other, basically cooling the amp under the box, completely hidden and in a spot that you'll never use anyway. Just a couple ideas... :) Depends how in depth you wanted to get

if i mounted it in one of the storage trays do you think it'd be necesarry to air cool the amp?? How did you mount yours on the box? Do you have any pictures? I have a box from Mike on this site if that matters but i cant see mounting an amp on it anywhere. Im thinking since i sit so far up in my car maybe i can put it behind my seat. Im afraid of the easy entry pushing the seat back onto the amp though>

Re: where to mount amp in a c5 convert? (TT_Vert)
Yeah it might do that... I will get some pics soon to post. If you put the amp in one of the covered storage compartments you would definately need to cool it. And, depending on the efficiency of the amp and how hard you are pushing it, that still may not be enough. There are some pretty high cfm 12volt fans that are quiet enough you really wouldn't hear them back there and would work well with the right design and amp. Easiest and quickest route is probably to make a little carpeted amp rack to mount in the front of the trunk (behind the seat basically, but up in the cubby hole). I mean, how often do you put anything there? I don't, because it always ends up in the rear of the trunk!

If i was a creative person I would try but I cant make a box square.. I can disassemble an entire car and rebuild it, but creativity is not my thing.. :(
Look in the general discussion area and go to Cold Winter (I will put it at the top of the page) and you will see two amps mounted in the back of the car. There is another picture of the amps covered with a piece of black aluminum bent to fit around the amps and lock in under the metal frame of the car and the storage compartment lid.
