I'm ready to upgrade my stock Bose HU (2002 C5 'vert). Looking fo Alpine HU with:
A.) Built-in XM receiver
B.) MP3 playback Capability
C.) Output to drive my 12CD Changer
D.) Preamp outs to drive Subwoofer Amp and Amp for 2 door speakers
Can anyone make a recommendations?
I don't think there is an XM HU. They all have to have another "brain" that you have to buy. And if it is the stock CD I don't think you can just hook that up to a HU.
Thanks for the reply. There is at least one, the CDA-9820XM, that has built in XM but it will not play MP3s. I'm hoping there is another model that will do both.

Not that I know of. That CDA-9820XM is the first XM HU ever. All the rest are XM ready. The Alpine 9813 plays MP3's, is XM ready, and will control your AiNet 12 disc cd changer.
I just sold my 9815, and I was very impressed with it!!! I would definitely suggest that head unit. Add XM for another $200 on top of the $400 head unit and you are set! Are you pulling your bose speakers too?
Just wondering...have you considered the iPOD in place of the CD changer?
I hear the new Alpine will be able to seriously control the iPod and display folders, titles, etc. It should be out this summer so I've been waiting.
Surly want to replace 12 CD with 10 to 40 Gb of storage. Easy to uplaod and easy to hide in the car (glovebox?)
I have a 9811 which does everything you are looking for. I am trying to sell it and my AI net 12 disc changer for $400. All you need is the XM module. The radio is XM ready. Let me know if you are interested
Thanks, but I really don't want an "XM Ready", I really want it built in. I think I'll just wait for Alpine to come up with one. I don't think it will be too long....
