I bought a GM 12 disc Cd changer on E-Bay which would not eject the cartridge. Unfortunately, I could not get the people to take the changer back. So I had to figure out how to fix it. I did a search on this forum which mentioned that a small plastic piece sometimes breaks on the cover which will not allow the cartridge to eject because it cannot activate the microswitch. Sure enough, my little plastic piece was broken.
The fix mentioned on the thread was to glue a piece of plastic on the lid. I was concerned about the permanency of this fix. My son, the mechanical engineer happened to be visiting and he came up with a more permanent fix. Basically, we installed a screw with the base of the screw used to activate the microswitch. It works great now. Also, once you take the covers off the changer, you can manually eject the cartridge by moving a little white arm on the back side.
