Will a DIN and a half HU fit as a replacement for my stock HU. The regular DIN units look too small to fill up the space left by the stock HU. I have heard that there is a "bar" behind the dash that might be an issue????
This after I started with the idea of just adding a sub. Now its the whole enchilada baby! New HU, speakers, amps, AND subs. Where does the money go????
Ok...there is a bar behind the radio and there are two readily available dash kits. One makes the radio stick out of the dash 1.5 inches and you do not have to touch the bar.Personally I think it looks like junk and hate to install them. The other is a flush dash kit and you will have to either cut the bar or bend it backwards. I would cut it. It is aluminum and will only take a few minutes to do so. Then your radio will sit in flush and have a very nice look to it.
There are two bars in there to support that area. I have removed mine completly and have had no side effects. You only need to cut a section off and not remove the entire piece. The bar is really and L bracket....you need to remove the part that is vertical only.
