I'll ask you guys what amp should I buy to power my Adire Koda comp set and my CDT Tweeters. I want a top notch SQ amp. Now I know a lot of you don't believe that amps have any bearing on the SQ of a system, but I think a sytem is only good as it's weakest link. I just want a top notch amp to compliment my Kodas and CDT's. I now have a DEI Viper, which is good but I want better.
The amps I am considering are : Tru 4.65, ARC 4150CXL, PG Ti 500.4 and PPI 480X. I am trying to get at least 60x4 watts, preferably more like 75x4 watts to put to my Kodas. Which amp would be the best of my selections ? Any more amps anyone would like to add ? (Not MTX, Kicker or UsAcoustics) Those are fine amps but I would not trade my Viper for any of them.
Thanks bogus. Those amps seem cool but I don't really want tubes in my car system, too fragile and need replacement. I just want a very durable clean sounding amp.
I have also used A/D/S. It was one of the most transparent amplifiers I had ever heard. They don't have crossovers or any gadgetry that could add noise. It's a straight forward direct route design. Even thier protection system is nonivasive: a fuse.

Ah. ye of little faith! I had the Butler for 3 years, and a friend is still using it! The tubes are mounted using a military style mount... and the tubes are either Russian (best) or Brazilian (pretty good), don't remember, but I think they are Russian.
However, there has been no audible loss in sound quality. I listened to it just recently... still sweet... I bought it in 1997, sold it in 2000.
Don't get me wrong bogus, I don't mind tubes, at least in my Marshall and Mesa Boogie guitar amps, it's just when it comes to audio a lot of them tend to soften the sound, in order to give it that "warmth". I want the cold hard facts of what was recorded without that warmth. I say all of this but who knows if I ever do hear one and it knocks me out, I would buy one !
