Default Alpine CDA-9835 vs. CDA-7998? (Using iPod adapter)

With Eclipse seeming to drag their feet on mp3 jukebox technology as well as satellite radio, and with the announcement that Alpine headunits will be able to control iPods through an adapter due out later this year, I have been looking seriously at getting an Alpine unit. The two mentioned in the title are what I am looking at. They can be seen here: http://www.hookedontronics.com/show_...s.jsp?cid=7376
and here: http://www.hookedontronics.com/show_...ls.jsp?cid=615

I like the 9835 because it has very adjustible colors that I can use to match the interior of my '91. But the 7998 has amber coloring which may look good enough with the '91's interior light scheme. What's more, the 7998 would fill the space nicely. I guess the big question is, will the 7998 control the new iPod adapter? If so, which is the better deal? Thanks for your help!

I donno about controlling the iPod, but I do know that the 7998 is a great head!

But it does require amps, it is unpowered.

I guess that is the big question then. Supposedly, the iPod connection will work with any Ai-Net Alpine, but I am not sure. I like the oversized face of the 7998. I will be using an amp or two with either headunit. Thanks for the reply!

I know the 9835 will be able to control the iPod with the controller discussed here: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=854610. But doesn't the 7998 have the Ai-Net as well? If so, I would think the adapter would work with it as well.
