I just had a local stereo shop install a 12" sub, amp and o/d box into my '04 coupe. It sounds fine except when I attempt to turn it off. Then I get a very loud 30 hertz hum through the system (very loud!). The installer says this is common to Bose-equipped vettes and there's nothing he or anyone else can do about it. He suggested just turning the volume all the way down when not in use.
I noticed this is only a problem when the car is running. When the car is off and the switch is in the accessory position, the hum doesn't occur...but the sub doesn't operate in this setting, either.
Did they hook it up incorrectly or is it true I'm not able to add sub components to a stock Bose system?
it's the sound from the alternator, does it get worse during acceleration. you can install a .5-1.0 farad capacitor and it should eliminate the noise. i don't have a problem and i have 2 12" dvc in mine
Ksm...I got some info from my friend. He says these two places have very good reputations
