I want to a get simple CD deck with MP3 playback and XM capability that will sound at least the same as my stock GM radio on my '97 coupe. I do not want to spend a lot of money because I only use my radio for news and books on CD. The GM radio puts out GREAT sound for what I do but it can't do MP3, CD-RW, or XM without a seperate unit.
What's out there? Any recomondations?
Will a $160 - $200 Sony, JCV, Kenwood, or Pioneer work well with the Bose speakers? I know if you give a bad Computer sound card a good pair of speakers you get bad quality. I want to avoid that situation with a CD deck.
Re: Cheap MP3 + XM CD Deck with Bose Speakers (RS2K)
The problem is you can't just replace the deck, you have to buy the $100 Soundgate adapter to continue using all of the Bose Speakers, without, goobye 8" mids ["subwoofers"] in the door. I have had wonderful success with the JVC Arsenal KD-300, it does MP3, and you can also control a Sirius satellite system from it. Another option is to add an RF modulated MP3 changer or yadda yadaa, there are many options, but they all cost money, just wanted you to know it is not as simple as changing the radio
Thanks for the info, where can I get a soundgate adapter and what does it do? There's no way I can rig my own up is there? Is it more than just a mechanical adapter?
