Hey guys last night i destroyed (totally by accident) a set of boston acoustic tweeters, 5 1/2's and some 6 1/2's. i was rewiring my sub when i accidentlay wired the crossovers to my Audiobahn 2000 rms Class D sub when all of a sudden i heard a loud pop. i opened the rear grills and saw what was left of my 6 1/2.
The cone was torn off the rubber surround. I removed my door pannel and same thing with the 5 1/2's and the teweets just got fried.
I'm looking to redo my speakes and need suggestion on what to get, lookoing to spen about 300-400 on components. i don't need an amp or installation cause the wire is already there. i would appreciate any imput guys....
First of all, when you get your new set of components, make sure you disconnect the battery before wiring them up.
I'd not waste time or money replacing the rear speakers. Just disconnect them and pull them out of there, they are doing nothing but messing up your imageing.
Was there anything you didn't like about the BA? What kind of music do you normally listen to? Do you like your music bright, crisp, and "in your face", or do you like a more warm, laid back, mellow sound? How many watts to you have to feed your components? Have you thought about adding a 3-way set perhaps to increase your mid bass impact?
I can offer some suggestions if you can give some more information.
i had asked my brother to disconnect the battery, i instead he just pulled the fuse so when i reconnected it it all went to hell.
I usually listen to rock, rap, and ocassionally techno. depending on the mood. i'd love it to be in my face, the same sound as if i where at a concert. i am running about 75 watts rms to each of the components through a 4 channel amp. i also have 2 subs that i use an audiobahn aluma12Q wired to 6 ohms and 800 watts actual rms power, and an eclipse aluminun 12" both are dvc's. except the eclipse is normally ran at 8 ohm and 300 watt actual rms. i love music and need something to drown out my lack of cats and b&B bullets.

Perfect. I'd think about a 3 way componet set. You can "bi-amp" the set. Run the midrange and tweeter of the front channels of your amp, and run the 6.5" midbass from the rear channels of your amp.
I'd look at JLxr653csi, MB Quart, or Kicker KX series with their mid bass driver (check out sounddomain.com)

I assume you only run one of these subs at a time. I'd run the eclipse and wire it at 2 or 4 ohms and feed it 400-600 watts depending on the model.
yeah i only run one sub at a time... if i want clean crisp sound i use the eclipse. if i want to be heard a mile away i strap in the audibahn and hope not to rattle the car apart. it might not be the cleanest sounding sub but it hits like a sledgehammer.
