Default I need amp/sub installation help

Well you guys seem very knowledgable about this kind of thing so I was looking for a little help. I'm 19 and just bought a 97 blk/blk coupe a couple of weeks ago. Then, a few days later, a friend of mine gave me the system out of his suv because he bought a new car. I got a big truck box with 2 12" subwoofers and a Bazooka EL2100 amp.

Basically, I would ideally like to install a single sub and the amp while keeping the origianl bose system and delco HU. I've been reading up on this and in one post somebody mentioned that if your amp has high level inputs, all you have to do is tap into the rear L and R speaker outputs from the HU. The amp I have has an input on the side labeled "high input." However, the input is shaped like a little rectangular box and after searching all over the place I have no idea where I can find an adapter for it.

However, assuming that I could find a way to get an adapter for the high level input plug, is getting an adequate audio signal as simple as splicing into the rear speaker wires and running those to the "high level" input on the amp? Also, is there anywhere that I could get a wiring harness that would go from the HU wiring to the HU so that I could avoid cutting the original wiring?

So, in summary, what is the easiest and most cost effective (I just blew pretty much every penny I have to buy the Vette) way to hook the amp up to the existing system? Also, I know the C5's have a pretty irregualr sound system, I think I've correctly read people mentioning all kinds of different places in the car where audio components are placed (up under the pedals?). I could be wrong about that (probably am) but I just wanted to be sure that everything I need for connecting the amp would be exposed by removing the HU. Thanks a lot and any help would be appreciated.

Default re: sub install in '97

I installed my sub box & amp by splicing into the low level signal wires in the factory harness behind the hu. It was pretty easy and sounds great. I used the little plastic wire splice things that you can buy in the auto section at Wal-Mart. I didn't have to cut any wires that way. I just used the splicers that had a quick connect plug on them, and then removed the plugs from one end of a long dual rca cable and put the female quick connectors on in their place.....so all I had to do was plug the rca cable directly up to the factory harness, and I can remove the cable at any time without leaving a trace or rewiring everything. The hardest part was running the power wire from the battery through the car! And if I remember correctly, the ground is common, so there's only 3 connections to make.

I might still have the color coding for the factory wires saved somewhere on my laptop. If you need it, I'll try to find it.
