I apologize in advance if this question is totally lame......BUT, has anyone found and/or installed dual subwoofers in the rear speaker compartments of a coupe? I think the C5 coupes have a larger speaker well that may accommodate small subwoofers that could replace the rear speakers. TIA

8-9-04 update
I've found a shop that does work for the local dealer and they think that the dual 6-1/2 inch subwoofers will sound great. Anyone else done this, or is it the defualt upgrade?
I just had a 10" sub put in the center storage area of my 2000 coupe. There is plenty of bass...in fact I had to turn it down (i.e., less bass) to fit my taste. I should have realized a 10" would be a lot of bass when I have a 10" sub in my home stereo system and it holds its own. I'm sure some here like tons of bass...I just wanted to make up for the stock system's shortcomings in that area, and have enough juice to hear and feel the bass with the top off and the speeds up.
I think focal also makes a 6.5" subwoofer that is supposed to be good - never heard them though, but I cant imagine they would be better than a couple 8"s subs. You could do a couple solobaric subs which require tiny airspaces and use the two small pockets.
I had 2 boxes built for my 99 coupe where I am installing 2 8" Solo Barics. Another forum member makes the boxes and sells them on the forum. He will make them to fit the subs you select.
Now if I can find someone on the forum that can guide me in wiring my new system up I will be all set. What I have purchased is 2 8" subs and 2 Alpine MRD-M300 mono amps to run the subs and then an Alpine CDA 7897 head unit, disired result are install the head unit and run the speak out to the Bose units and then the pre-amp outs to the subs.
I need as much help as you can offer including wiring the amps to the battery, how the heck and where the heck do I run the battery cable through the firewall? Last time I installed a full system was in my 68 GTO (a very long time ago) and boat about 8 years ago and all were easy installs compared to this.

Actually, Focal makes a 5 1/4" subwoofer. I haven't heard them either but have read many articles on them. They recommend ported enclosures and the use of several woofers.
If you don't want to give up your space in the back, the JL 6" subs would be the way to go but a single 10" or 12" with the right power will do a much better job in the subwoofer output and quality than the 6s.
thekev_2000, I can help out.. Go through the firewall behind. to the right of, and below the battery. Its just fiberglass there so its easy to make a hole - I drilled it from the inside.. Use a grommet! inside the car take out the cover there above the passenger feet area (its easy) and you will see where the big bunch of wires goes through.. I went in near there so I had a point of reference.
You wont be able to run the bose stuff off of a aftermarket head unit (unless there is some weird adapter available I dont know about..). I'd go out and buy some nice 6.5" for the front and 5 1/4 (or a small-size 6.5") for the rear. Dynaudio is my recommendation for speakers.
