I've read some of the other posts regarding this. I thought to build a sealed sub box out of 1/2" material to slip into the middle compartment for a 12" Sub following the contours of the compartment with the exception of the smallest part at the very bottom. There is enought space in this very bottom section to place my amp, leaving a air path for heat rejection, and I would relocate the CD changer to the back deck where it is more accessable to change cds anyway.
The problem is....I calculate that there is about 1440 cubic inches of space in the box doing it this way. Is that enought for a 12" sub to work right?
I built a 1/2 fiberglass and 1/2 MDF enclosure for my single 15". I filled it with water to calculate the volume. It is approx 2.7 net cubic foot.
It is built "upwards" and I can still stow the top. Next time, I'm going to use all MDF except for the very bottom where the contours are since all the other edges are sharp angled.
Great! Appreciate the replies, guys. Awesome system there RockinC5, but a little much for me. My box gets built this weekend and will house a Sony Explode 12" just for some added bass to the the existing Bose. It will be flush with the floor with a grill so I can keep as much storage space open as possible.

Thanks, it's a bit much for me too, but when I set out to replace the crappy stock Bose, I wanted to make sure I could hear the music over the road noise (at the time I still had the run flats)... it'll do that and much more
Good luck on you're install and post some pics once it's done.
