Default Lidatek Laser Jammer

Is anyone running one of these? The BMW boards and the Audi boards rave about them, but a search here pulls up nothing.

The previous generation unit, the Lidatek Laser Echo LE-20, got great reviews from users, and they just came out with the new model, the LE-30. One has already been ordered for the C5, and I'm toying with getting one for the Camaro too. It uses an "emitter" rather than LEDs like all the other laser jammers(passport, blinder, K40), which they say is better because it is what the laser gun uses.

Wanted to see if anyone had experience with this unit.

Whoever is saying these things work at all is basically lying, or they have a vivid imagination.

Just a few pieces of literature for light reading...

By the way, here's a test for you...I dare you to find a website that says that Radar "Jammers" work and does not also SELL radar jammers.

The bottom line (from my own experience and research) is that passive radar jamming WILL NEVER WORK. As you will discover from the literature available, the available products are actually "scramblers" because they are passive. You would need a massive amount of power for a passive scrambler to work (and believe me you wouldn't want to be sitting next to it in your car either..unless you fancy the idea of cancer, sterility, and/or death). Only an active jammer operating in the same frequency range as the opposing radar will be effective. The problems with active radar (ie. true "Jammer") are that it is illegal (FCC doesn't like the idea of folks riding around blasting radio frequencies in all directions), and you would need several devices to ensure full spectrum coverage from all the possible radar frequencies in use.

Back when I was a kid we tested this theory out...if you take a motion detector (like the ones used at Wal-Mart, etc.) and an old radar gun (we were using X-band at the time), the radar gun will not get a reading, or any reading that appears will be wildly erratic. Nowadays it doesn't matter since most motion detectors still operate in the "x" band, but the radar is operating in the "K" or "Ka" band of frequencies.

However, the Blinder M10 is purportedly the only device with a measureable effectiveness against LIDAR (Laser). Bel's LaserPro and Escort's ZR3 system have tested well, but there's just not enough info out there yet to say for sure. And let's be clear, being effective doesn't mean that it jams it...all that means is the effective range of the laser is decreased, not eliminated. At best you can hope to decrease range effectiveness by 30%. Beating LIDAR is easier because all you need to do is flood the area around your car with enough light (eg. IR) so as to foul up the laser's ability to get a lock on your car.

Hope that helps!

PS: My wife and I both agree: GEAUX TIGERS!!!!!
