I have an Alpine 7894 head unit in my car, with one of Mike's boxes in backwith an Infinity 12" sub in it. I have it run off of two bridged channels of a PPI PCX-4125 (250 watts), and some DEI Viper comps up front (each one off of the other channels). My question is, what crossover settings, on the radio, and/or the amp would keep the bass from sounding so muddy? It doesn't hit like it should. I don't want it to thump the windows out, but I do want it to sound better. Any help would be Greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!
Do you have the Infinity Perfect?
I have three in my vette and each are receiving approx 350 watts rms.
I like to keep my x-over for subs at 100Hz or below to help keep the sound image in the front were it belongs. I'm currenty running my Infinities at 80Hz and below. I have four 6 1/2"s up front and they are easily capable of operating from 80Hz and up. The sub x-over is 24db and the high pass is also 24db.

Sorry to take so long getting back to you! I have just a plain Infinity 12" sub (I don't know which model, as I bought the box from Mike76002 with the sub in it).
I have my amp x-overs set at 80hz. For both of them (the front comps, and the rear sub, but have the high/low pass filters set accordingly for the both). Does this sound right? Also, what settings would you recommend for the Alpine? Thanks for the help! I appreciate it!
If you have a 24db xover then that is all you should use. If you really wanted to you can use the xovers in the Alpine also but set them at the same frequency as the other xovers. For your muddiness I would first adjust the xover then check the enclosure volume. Box could be too big.
