I thought I was having enough problems with the car itself ( steering wheel shake that no one can figure out, lumbar controls just went out, windshield washer sensor, some knock sound when I turn..etc, etc,) now my super simple 1 amp 1 sub system began acting up.
I have 1 10" kicker solobaric in a steath box in center compartment. The amp is a Rockford fosgate 601s. I'm using the AOEMVET1 PAC vet interface to link the amp to the factory deck.
For two months it worked perfect. Well last week I noticed that the bass is not hitting at the same level. It bumps normal then it goes low for a min or two then goes normal and then goes low. Very inconsistent. I have found no true pattern. I did notice that 60-70 percent of the time when I slow down it goes back to normal.
and NO it is not the svc control on the radio. This is only on the subwoofer that this is happening.
The only thing i knew to do was check the ground. It is connected to the bolt that holds down the console. I put a washer under and on top of the ground terminal and used a wired brush on the bolt. Still does the same thing. So I thought maybe the brand new amp is bad.
Took it to the audio place and the looked at it 50$ and said try to ground it straight to the battery. That he didn't think it was the amp. So i will try that. he also said to check the adapter.
So what do you think? Ever heard of this happening.
Ground is possible culprit. Also check voltage at the amp. I would also check the PAC piece. Personally I would find a better grond spot than the center counsel bolt. Alot of guys use a seat bolt. The problem here is something is deffiently losing power...either voltage or audio signal. I would check voltage first...it is easier.
Does any protection mode lights come on? Some quality amps will go from full power to a lower power output when the amp gets too hot. Most amps completely shut down but there are exceptions.
EatRice,
This is the first thing i will try. I'm gonna run ground straight to battery.
Next will be the PAC piece. I"m trying to contact them to see if this problem has occured before
KnewblewKorvette,
I didn't look for that. I will have to check on it
The adapter was the problem. Something was wrong with the rear female rca's on the adpater. I plug my rca's to the front set of female rca's on the adapter and its worked fine ever since.

I would have guessed the PAC adapter first, sorry I didn't see this post in time. I installed a few of these. One of them was no good right from the factory. The adapter does its job well, but the quality control is not what it should be. PAC is a good company though and usually will swap them out w/out much hassle.
