For you guys that have installed back-up cameras, what is the best one to use, and where did you get it? I want one that has reverse imaging, and is the bullet kind, so that I can install it like GB did in the third brake light. Also, I read that a black/white image would be better for night viewing and a better picture. Is this true, and would a b/w cam work with an Avic N-1? Thanks in advance for the help. I appreciate it.
i had a back up cam like you are describing made by accele. It was color and the image was not so great. if I were to do it again, i'd go with a b&w camera.
Lars....are you talking about the little bitty back up camera you found? I bought one also..does not work that great. If the sun sits on it for a little while the picture goes black. I now have a bullet camera from Figer Vision. I have not installed it yet but have played with and it works much better. The best cameras I have seen are from SAVV. I have one of those to go on my truck. Never faded from the sun and crisp clear picture.
Luv...a B&W will work on your N1. It does not matter just needs a video feed. You can feed it video through a camcorder if you wanted. I am running two cams on my car through the N1. One is in the front so I can see curbs and the other in the rear. I can also use them while driving...they look neat going down the road..lol.
Thanks Randy! That has to be really cool, especially with as quick as your car is. I'd like to see the video of the front camera during a 9 second quarter! I'd bet it'd almost make you dizzy! Are your cameras b/w or color, and do you think that it'd be hard to put it in the third brake light?
Mine are color and are in the third brake light. I have installed a few this way. I take the light apart and then drill it and re-seal it. It is not hard just takes a little patience to split the two pieces. A few guys have just drilled straight through and it works..just not my style. After SEMA I am going to get some video footage of the car going down the road from both cameras.
