Default New HU/Sub/Amp

I just purchased a stealthbox for my C5, and I am looking to buy a new HU tonight and amp for the sub. I am undecided between the Kenwood DDX7015 or the AVIC-N1. Obviously the pioneer will be an easier install. But besides the HU, what kind of amp is recommended to power the sub and what additional parts are needed? The sub is the JL Audio 10W3v2-D2. I just wanted a little more kick in the system and the ability to view DVD and Nav. The only thing about the Kenwood I don;t like, is the fact that it is Sirius and not XM, as I already have an XM commander and a 1 year subscription.

I'd look at a JL 250/1 for the sub amp. I have the 500/1 and love it. That is overrated for your speaker though. I like the Alpine HUs. They also are using XM so you won't waste your subscription. my2c

I was also thinking about the Alpine. I guess the main thing I am concerned about, is what additional parts are needed to connect the new HU/Amp/Sub to the existing Bose system.

If you are looking at the Alpine video pieces you will also need an additional part to make the video work while you are driving. I have installed all the indash video pieces available and bang for buck the N1 is at the top. The Kenwood is a really cool piece, I like the way it works and the display. I do not like how it comes out of the dash or the way the housing looks when opened. The Alpine pieces are very nice just not my personal favorite. Also the N1 is the only piece that has built in nav. There is one draw back to the nav in the N1 though. You have to have the disc in when you want to use it. With the other choices the nav is a stand alone piece and you can just leave the nav disk in it all the time. Just another thing to think about.

On another note if you are interested I have a Pioneer AVHP-7500 DVD with an AVIC 80 for sale. 1500,00 for both pieces.

Here is what I looked at today;

Alpine-VAD300 DVD Headunit -$1299
Alpine - MRVF450 5-channel amp, 50x4, 200x1 - $399
Infinity Kappas- INF60.5CS 6 1/2" 2 ways - $229
Infinity Kappas - INF63.5I 6 1/2" 3 ways - $149

I purchased a JL stealthbox with the 10W3v2-D2 the other day.

Do you all see any problems or areas I can improve on? I looked at the N1, but just can't see me using the NAV that much to spend the extra $500 they want over the Alpine unit.

Looks like some nice stuff. Did they say anything to you about the needed part for the Alpine so you can watch video while driving? You only need it if you want to do that. Otherwise looks you will have a pretty nice system.

No, what part do I need? I just assumed it was like the rest(at least the ones I know) and they grounded it at the parking brake.

I also need to get the XM tuner, but its discontinued and I can only find it on Ebay.
