iPod2Car?

http://ipod2car.com/

I'm seriously thinking of it...the Route 66 trip is next April and it would be easier to carry the iPod than a whole bunch of CDs.

My concern is this:
Switch to the IPOD2CAR ADAPTER by pressing the “Aux” or “Source” button.
To change tracks simply press “Seek <” or “Seek >”
That is all of the information they give with regard to navigation. Forward and backward one song at a time. This might be adequate for navigating within a single album or playlist, but you'll need to go to the ipod controls to change albums. For $190 plus a ipod, I would want a little cleaner setup than that, I think. For example, a friend just got a Phatnoise system http://www.phatnoise.com/products/di...yers/index.php for his Jetta. It uses the CD changer controls to select albums by artist, genre, etc and announces the names though a voice synthesizer. That 20GB addon unit was only $400 which is less than the ipod plus the ipod2car. Unfortunately, Phatnoise doesn't support any GM head units.
I was planning on just getting the aux input cable for $85 and using my Rio Carbon. I was sizing up where to locate the Rio this evening. The only place that it will fit is the armrest storage...but I'm not sure how easy it will be to change songs and albums with it there. So confusing...

I am thinking about jacking this into the Bose head unit using an AUX cable. Now I just need to find a place to mount the controller. (1-7/8" x 6-3/4" x 1") Maybe inside the armrest bin. This looks like a better solution for me, since I don't have to buy an Ipod. I should be around $350 with this unit and the AUX cable.
Any thoughts? Anyone ever use one of these? Any other ideas for mounting the control panel? Maybe in the ashtray.
Edit: Just found some very unflattering things about this unit on the omnifimedia support forums. http://www.omnifimedia.com/forum/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=30 Oh, well...back to the drawing board.

Neo: http://www.ssiamerica.com/products/n...fication.shtml
Dension: http://www.densionusa.com/x/index.ph...=365&Itemid=68

Both units can be hideaway units in the trunk or under a seat. The Neo comes with a small wired remote (Size 4.5" x 2" x 1.75"). The Dension has it as an option (Size 4.5" x 1.6" x 1.2"). Hard drive sizes start at 20 GBs and go up to 160 GBs. You can get the Dension without a drive at all and add your own. The display and controls of the Dension are nicer. The second link above showns some pretty nice installations of the satellite control. Might be able to fit that into the ashtray. The Dension is super classy, but Neo is a good bit cheaper. Also, the Neo has a "voice" option for $40 that will read the display to you like the Phatnoise system. Also, the Neo comes with an IR remote too...too bad is has that awful green LCD
Both will need to be jacked in with an AUX line. mp3mall.net has both of these for a fair price.
The 20 GB Neo comes pretty much as I want it (with wired remote) for $290 + AUX cable. The Dension with no drive is $340 + $85 for the Satellite controller + AUX cable. Either of these look pretty good to me.
Sorry if I am cluttering up the board with this. I am just looking for someone to tell me if I am missing something. Any thoughts?
