I recently got a 4 channel amp installed. I already have a sub installed. However, now with the 4 channel there was too much bass so i turned the sub down to balance it out. I noticed that even when I turned the sub level all the way down to 0 on my Apline 9807, I could still see the cone vibrating. Is this normal? I dont remember seeing this happen before the 4 chan was installed but it is possible it was going on. Is it also possible that they did something in the install of the 4 chan to cause this to happen? Thanks.
I doubt it's a crossover problem, it sounds like the sub is recieving some sort of feedback in the form of subsonics (you can't hear them, but they waste power). Make sure that the amp is grounded correctly, and that the RCA cables are tight on their connectors.
Induction noise, of which is probably yer problem, is very common. It stems from anthing from cheap or defective RCA cables, to the amplifier itself having some sort of piggyback signal problem. But really, if yer not going to put your car in a sound off competition, dont worry about it, unless it REALLY bugs you. Then ya might just try replacinig simple things like the RCA Cables (ive bought nice and expenisve gold plated rca cabling before, and have found a defect in it, so anything is possible). Just trying to help bro....signal noise can be a pain to get rid of sometimes. I had a ton of problems at one point in other car installs, when i had a bunch of neon lighting in the car, alot of induced signal noise those lilttle transformers put out made me pull my hair out.
