OK OK, i know this is a beaten down dead end subject, but I just cant believe that I cant just outright BUY a fiberglass enclosure for my 86 C4 coupe's storage compartment. The C5 and C6 guys can buy them all day long, which makes me sick. I am not a fiber fab guy, nor do I have the time to make a box out of wood for my car, Id much rather buy one. Now I know that there are people out there that wil fab custom boxes for me, but thats expensive for me. So, I am asking if anyone knows someone who sells prefabs for C4's
Either that, or im gonna go into business for myself fibering my own enclosures for sale. (i really dont want to do that)
I am going to seal the actual storage bin with fiberglass where it would leak and then install a kicker solobaric L7 Square woofer. Anybody know if the storage compartment will hold up or do i need to make the whole compartment stronger. I know that compartment isnt the strongest. So i am basically asking if the oscillations from inside the box from the storage compartment not being rigid enough affect sound quality even if there is a good seal.
Nomad emaied me : may just have what you are looking for. I have a sub enclosure that I custom built for my 88 Vette that holds two 10" woofers. It is a non-partitioned, sealed box with 2 cubic ft. of airspace and is made from 3/4" MDF
EEEK! my poor solobaric L7's would eat each other in a non-partitioned box, but thanks for the offer. I was really just looking for a fiber box for the compartments, not a complete fill of the back of the car with a big box. I want to keep some space for storage. If I was going to fill the back up of the car with a box, I would of probably just bought one 15" solobaric L7 and be done with it. But im one of these retards that is trying to save space and have thump still.
jdawgC4, I would think that the compartment is strong enough for a box if you fiber over it. However, I would think some pollyfill would reduce standing (occilating) sound waves enough.
Im thinking of enclosure such as, one that you can drop into the storage well, and that some of the enclosure would protrude above the floor line. Im not really trying to get a stelth look or anything, just trying to conserve space.
Now I do own a Greenwood Corvette C4 subwoofer box for 2 8" subs, maybe i should get some badass subs. But I have no idea what to buy, maybe ill break down and buy some JL's....Its just, everyone puts JL's in their car.
Hey, I would like to get a fiberglass box made also for my 85 vette, I have two ID max 10's that I want against the back wall and so that the top will fit over it. chillcat34433@yahoo.com Johnathan
Well unfortunately Ive already purchased two solobaric 10" L7's for my vette already. However, they are making the best pair of door stops ive ever owned. My Alpine R is still sitting in my hatchback in a cheap walmart box. Sounds Great. Just ugly, and I cant put my top in.
GRRRR

id love to post pics of my greenwood sub box (or so it was called by the guy I bought it from). But how do you get image attachment status around here, I looked in the fourm FAQ and found nothing about it. Hmmmm... Us fourm newbies have interesting images to post too!
