Default frt speakers in c4

I am planning on putting some 4 inch speakers into my factory bose enclosure for my dad. Is there any way I can do this without actually removing the enclosure from the car? I really dont wanna have to dick with the window track and whatnot. Basically can I remove that pos bose speaker and tap into the wire before the amp? I assume I need to grab the wire before the amp

Thanks guys

Yes, you can fit a 4" speaker right in that Blose pod without removing or cutting it. However, don't cut into your stock wiring harness, that's just ghetto. Run new speaker wire into the door, it's extremely easy to do. Just drill a hole in the side of the plastic pod to run your new speaker wire in and you're set.

Yes, as Nomad stated, just drill a hole in the box, and feed the wire though. Once you get hte door panels off, thing are fairly open. My biggest hassle, when I had a C4 was feeding the wire though the doors.

You could also use the old wiring, without cutting/splicing it IF you have a local electronics surplus shop. The 6-pin header that normally connects to the Bose amp is an industry standard; you can buy the male end of it. If you're using an aftermarket harness on your HU, the pins on the outside of the connector will be the + and - from your HU for that given speaker.

Since my HU is only 30W/ch, I'm using the stock wiring. If I decide to add an amp, that'll be a spring project. I'm out of time here in Ohio.

Should someone actually want those connectors, I would be willing to buy and ship. They're $0.20/pc locally, so I'd be willing to buy and ship a set of 4 for around $4. If for some reason, you'd want more I could buy more and it'd be cheaper overall.

They're solderable tin pins, in case anyone cares.

It's simpler than that - when you go with an aftermarket setup, you no longer need that junky Bose amp. You can remove it from the box and use it's plug, along with the 6 pin plug I mentioned, to connect the speaker into the stock wiring.

If this isn't clear enough, I'm installing my system this weekend and I'm photo-documenting the whole proceedure.

PICTURE AWESOME LOL!!! Terry I understand what you are saying about removing the amp and all but will I need to physically pull the bose enclosure out of the door or can i take the speaker out of it while its mounted on the door reachinside and find this wire.

Also, if i were to run new wire is there a way to run it and get it into the enclosure without rippin the enclosure out of the door first

Thanks

As well this doesnt apply to what I am doing at all but I think I saw a thread on this site about replacin the bose amps with some other amp and they actually fit into the factory enclosures, they explained how to do it on the rear. Does anyone know where this thread or website is

You'll have to pull the enclosure, but it's easier to work on outside the car anyway. Four bolts and one snap disconnect and you've seperated the speaker box from the car.

the door panel is all you have to remove... the window stuff is inside the door, the enclosure is avaliable without messing with the window at all. EASY. 15 minutes.

Tips: There are 3 screws at the inside door release - one behind the little slidey thing, one exposed in the middle and one behind the inside marker light. The rest are rather easy to reach.

As you can tell I am slightly confused by all of this so I can do this by only removing the physical door panel, then removing the 3 screws holdin factory speaker into bose enclosure, and then in there I can find the wires I need

Is there a way to run speaker wire without takn the enclosure out from the door

Sorry guys i know this is pretty simple and repetetive

You will not be unplugging the amp from inside the pod you will unplug it from inside the door once you move the pod to the side. Also, you do NOT need to remove the Blose amp from the pod or the pod from inside the door to run new speaker wire and put an aftermarket speaker in it. That would be counterproductive and a waste of time, especially since you will most likely be reinstalling all of the Blose stuff when you go to sell the car. Just unplug the amp.

Yes. Once you have removed the door panel and speaker as explained above, all you will have to do is remove the 4 screws that hold the pod to the door frame itself. Push slightly on the pod to dislodge it from the frame, it is held on by a sticky substance. Then simply push the pod toward the back of the door to get it out of the way, it won't go far but it will get out of the way for you to reach inside the door to work. NO need to remove it from the door. Then, with the door open, look inside the car and pull the carpet down from where the wire harness goes from the bottom of the dash into the door. You can't miss it, there is a big rubber boot stretched between the door and the body, that is where your harness runs and that is where you will fish your speaker wire through. Seriously, it is extremely easy to do; in fact, it is easier to do than it is to explain how to do it. Once you look at it you will see what I mean.
Then simply drill a hole in the side of the pod to run your new speaker wire through and reassemble everything. Since you have never done it before it may take you a few hours to complete the job. But once you understand what you are doing the next door will go much faster.

once you pull the panel off, it will be obvious as to how easy it is to deal with.

remember, you will want a "notch" filter for open-air door enclosures. We can discuss this when you are ready... or, read about it in my C4 Audio FAQ.
