Freaky mp3 problem. (Alpine)
Deck: Alpine 7998
Media: Memorex somethin-or-others. Use 'em a lot.
Ripper: Soundforge
Encoder: Blade
I decided to finish ripping my CDs
And compile them together.
We'll use R+ as an example.
Here's the albums:
Herzeleid - ripped a long time ago, same equipment/etc.
Mutter - Same
Sehnsucht - New
Reise Reise - New
Started off with REise Reise, about ever 2 seconds it would skip. SAme with Sehnsuch. The last track of Reise Reise would play 10 seconds then jump to the next folder.
I went to the previously ripped albums, all played fine. After listening to them for a while, Reise Reise played fine - for about 2 songs. Then started skipping again. Teh last track DID play, but still skipped.
If I start with a cold cd player, the OLD rips will still play fine.
ALL files play fine in Winamp and Media Player.
I've never seen anything like this before.

simple thought, have you cleaned the player?
I had a problem like that, on regular store bought recordings, with my old Alpine 7939, bought a Radio Shack CD player cleaning disk. Cleaning stopped it.
There is something in my brain that says that ripped CDs are not as, how do I say this, "defined" as prerecorded CDs. So a touch of dust might cause problems...
