I installed a new stereo in my car a few months ago and didn't connect the illumination wire. I figured, it’s optional and one less wire. Been driving at night the past few days and the stereo is way too bright (it’s an lcd screen) and very distracting.
My question:
What harness, where, and what color wire is it supposed to be connected to? My car’s a 95.
according to my 1992 Helms manual, it is a grey/black wire, which connects to a grey wire at the head unit.
hope this is it!
I wonder if the color codes are the same B/W '92 and '95? I'd probe the wire with a test lamp or DMM to make sure it switches on/off with the IPC lamps.
I was thinking it was either orange, or orange/white
I just went throught this and I believe that was the color wire that was supposed to be there on the Alpine harness, but was not there for whatever reason. I thought the corresponding car's wire was the same color though.
On my C5, I just tapped the illumination wire from my AC controller. I don't recall which wire it was. I used the DMM method I described in my post above.
