Default Input on my planned stereo mods?

Alright...finally taking the plunge into my stereo system. I have kinda settled on the Alpine IVA D901, along with an Eclipse 10" sub, crossfire amps, and Diamond Audio seperates for the front, some DA fills for the rear......and some fancy fiberglass stuff.

Is this a good DVD player from what you guys know? What's the consensus on the speaker choices?

I noticed the mainland stereo guys run alot different componentry then the local stereo guys here in Hawaii, but I figured I'd take some advice from my fellow Corvette brothers....any input would be great.

Aloha, Dave

I have never had bad luck with Alpine. Their CD decks are very stable. I had a Camaro that hit 132db with 240 watts total power and my Alpine never skipped. I have never heard of Diamond Audio, so I can't comment on that. I am looking at replacing my entire system next summer and am looking at the Infinity Kappa Perfect series (subs and separates). Their sensativity is very high, which means it is louder. Every 3 points of sensativity is worth twice the sound with the same power. That is how I could hit 132db in a Camaro with 240 watts total driving: 1 - 10" Bazooka sub, 2 - 6x9's, 2 - 4x6 plates, 2 - 2 way 4" speakers, and 2 - 4" component speakers. Also, if you are looking at Alpine for a head unit, look at their amps as well. That is what I used to drive my old system. Their amps are VERY good. I had them mounted upside down (which you should never do because they may overheat) and they never shut off! Great amps!!
Hope this helps you out. Keep us posted!!

I had an Alpine HU in my 'stang, and it was was awesome.
I just finished an install in my 'vette, and went with the Pioneer AVIC N1 HU. In terms of speakers....I had the install shop test several subs, including the Eclipse you mentioned, but found the Kicker 04ss was much better. Plus it mounts perfectly in the door. I used 2 liquid cooled Eclipes in the doors also for the "highs", and 2 Alpines in the back. I wanted to put an Alpine amp, but it couldn't fit in the spare tire hole, so I went with a JBL instead. The system really pounds!! The subs are awesome!!

Thanks for the feedback guys. Knewblew, should I just omit the rear speakers? I couldn't tell from the sig pics what you were talking about.

rear speakers are not required in the small space of a vette.

check my C4 audio FAQ and scroll down to the ugly graphic I drew in paint (I really need to redo that...).

The reason for rear drivers is to create a bridge from the sub, in the way back (trunk, for example) and the cabin.

The vette's interior is so small, that the rear speakers are going to be right on top of the sub, hense, they will get clobbered by the sub and they are not needed.
