Ok i hear lots of talk about the 8"compVR, now what do you all think of like the 10 or 12" models, for the price how does it compare with alpines and inifitys. As well who makes a decent amp for cheap.
the kickers are pretty good from what ive heard
ive had kicker compvr 12s and they sounded good
i have 2 compvr 15s in my s10 and they are plenty loud and have good sound quality
they dont take a whole lot of air space in the sealed box applications
they are flexible as far as sealed or ported boxes go and they sound decent with only a moderate amount of power
all in all they are not the best out there but they are decent
they will handle alot of power if you give it to them
i blew 1 15 comp vr before but that was when it was driven with 1500 watts rms and it took about 10 minutes before i actually blew it
so really they are not a bad choice if you do get them
i cant compare them to infinity but id say they are comparable with pioneer premiers (the nickel plated ones)
i have 3 comp vr 10s in a single cab colorado and they absolutely slam and have really good sound quality
id say get them you wont be dissapointed
ive yet to have a kicker sub i didnt like
if its a bass amp you are referring to pioneer makes a 500 watt mono amp for about 170 bucks (etronics)
i have 2 of these bridged on my 15s (1 on each sub)
no complaints and amps dont get hot after playing them for a long time
amp is only 2 inches tall and about 10 inches square
pioneer gmd 510-m
so what is everyones general feelings on profile amps, I own 2 and have been happy, how do they compare with other lower priced amps? what do you guys think of audiobahn amps?
from what i know about profile is on highs its ok
bass id say no although a big enough one and it would be okay
from what i here the ratings on their amps are very overated but i hear that about a lot of amps
the fact that they look like the old cheap pyramid amps scares me away from them
i have a clarus series that is rater at 450watts rms and i picked it up new for 100 bucks and i have it pushin my elemental designs 10" kv2 and it slams but i was wondering if there were better amps out there for a bit more money
But that pioneer amp has horrible speaker connections! gold plated terminal screws just suck, since well, for me, I usually loose one or one rattles off from the bass. I just cant understand if a company is going to put all that effort into making well designed circuitry, why compliment the actual connections so poorly?
I used to HATE anything from Kicker, until I really started adding the price of the compvr's up, and really they are a great bang for the buck. If ya are just wanting to start out, I think they are great starter subs.
you can make those tight as butt hair(pardon the expression)
if you got something that can rattle those loose im not interested in hearing it cause its probably capable of killing you
so what connections do you like since these are such crap
(dont say molex dont say molex)
No , i dont dig molex either. But i usually look for those allen wrench tightening screw compression type connectors. An allen wrench doesnt seem to slip as much as a phillips screw does when tightening. If you still dont know when i mean by this, im talking the types of connectors on power lead distrubution boxes, but a smaller gauge size for the speaker wire.
As far as Audiobahn amps, ive never heard anyone complain of them, but of course, ive also never heard of anyone buying one and telling anyone that they are good. So, im at a loss unfortunately....I was looking thru some of their "higher end" amp series, and they have a crazy size one like 10000 watts x 1 amp, costing well over 2800$, and in a rack mount style case. The construction from the outside looked insane, but who knows whats actually behind it on the PCB board.
I thought that's what you meant. My hifonics amp has those types of connections. Great for the 4 gauge going into the power and ground... Hate it for just the speaker wires, though.
I am deffinetly all about the allen screws thats what my one amp has, my old school alpines have molex haha. We are gonna drop 2 12" compvrs in the back of the expediotion (its a ford i know, but we have a ford deal connection) and was thinkin of usin an audiobahn amp to push em 800rms. Just for ****s and giggles today i gutted a pc power supply to hook up my old mtx amp 120watt rms and hooked up my 10" in a sealed box to my old headunit inside with bookshelf speakers and stuff haha i had the house bumpin
