Default Audio system for a '89 Coupe???

I'm wanting to replace the audio system in my '89 Coupe, but I don't know where to start. It used to have the Bose system, but that was already ripped out by the previous owner.

I'm looking to replace the headunit and speakers. I know for sure I'm putting in the Pioneer DEH-P77DH and a subwoofer in the trunk, but I haven't decided on the speakers yet. From what I've read in the forum it can get quite complicated. Can anyone give me some tips which speakers to get and what's involved with hooking them up?

Thanks,

Carlos

Do you already have the head unit? If not, yiou can get *much* better units for the same price, in single din format... There are so many identical topics to this one, check around the audio section.

I agree, the audio section is where this belongs.

I have the same Pioneer unit in my truck and I really like it. It was a perfect fit (1 1/2 DIN) for my dash opening and I believe it is a perfect fit for you dash also. That will save you $ in install parts and time. It also has 3 sets of pre-amp outputs which leaves room for up grades. It can be used with a 6 or 12 disk changer. It has built in subwoofer x-over and controls and hi-pass for the front and rear. That too will save you $.
We need to know what kind of $ you want to spend before we recommend speakers. This I can tell you now. Pioneer has that HU with controls to use the rear speaker wires to power subs but I don't recommend it doing that way. I would buy an amp for the sub.

Default I thought this is the audio section...

I was under the impression this is the audio section.....

Anyways, I have around $ 1500 to spend on this, but that has to include the HU, CD changer, speakers & subwoofer. Also, I'll probably have to rewire the whole thing....

cdt cl61a front and rear
usacoustics 80x4 amp
single image dynamics idq10 in back with a usacoustics ampa round 250-300 watts output
whatever alpine, clarion, or pioneer (in that order of preference) that has the features you want in your price range. check out crutchfield.com to look at em, and compare em.

the Pioneer HU you want $300
a Pioneer 12 disc changer $125
these speakers for the front $220

this amp $410

and this awesome sub $310
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...738471192&rd=1

that comes to $1365. If you do the work yourself, you should be able to purchase all the wire and materials for the remaining $135. You will NOT be disappointed with these choices
