My 1996 has a am/fm cassette non-bose. Is this uncommomn for a 1996? Since its a non-bose is it easier to put in an after-market CD radio?? Can I leave the stock speakers alone??? Whats a good aftermarket CD radio?? Since it only has 14k miles should I just leave the stock radio in???
I just got a1996 with about 14K miles on it and has the same radio you have in your 96. Is it worth putting in another radio and making the car non-stock? I'm not sure
lets get real here... these cars are not going to be uber valuable anytime in our lives.
1) I have a sneaking suspicion that the Bose gold head unit will work just fine with the stock Delco system... the key here is the reciever module... I have checked the schematic, it's the same from the head to the receiver!
2) Upgrading to an aftermarket stereo won't harm the value one bit...
3) Upgrading to aftermarket is really quite easy either way.
Just visit the audio section for more information.
You'll say "Oh my God" when you see the piece of crap speakers that are in these. I started to just replace the head unit in my '95 (which had started with the same stock conf. as yours) and went ahead and did the whole thing, wiring, amp, speakers. It's alot of work and I'm glad it's over with, If your able, do the install yourself so you know it's right, you don't want to have to revisit it.
