Default Where doe the "illum" wire go

When installing an aftermarket head unit, what do I connect the illum wire to? Can I connect it to any of the hot wires going to dash or console lighting? Thanks for the help.

Unfortunately, once you've pulled the stock Delco HU, the BCM-controlled lines (Retained Accessory Power and the dimmer line) don't work any more. The BCM senses the absence of the Delco and doesn't send voltage to those. This happened to me when I swapped HUs.

You can pull switched voltage from the fusebox (#22 is what I used, but it only works in the ACC or engine running ignition positions. For the dimmer, I think you will have to tap into the cabin light dimmer line to be successful. Others on this forum will likely be able to help.

For info on putting an aftermarket system into a C5, see what I did to my 2004 Z06 - http://www.gruffspitstop.org/Corvette_Stereo/main.html
Good luck!
