I want to put a Nav/Radio/CD/DVD combo unit in my 03. I like the price and looks of the Pioneer Avic-N1, but will wait for the N2 if I go that way. The stero shop is strongly pushing the Pioneer 910 unit as the better way to go, I suspect profit maybe the motive there, but am not certian. For you chaps who are in the know about this area, what would be the way to go with this?
I am not sure what the 910 is. I could not find info for it on the Pioneer web site. But I will say the N2 is going to be a sweet unit. I am proably going to swap out my AVHP 7500 for a N2.
According to the dealer the 910 is the same type of unit, it has a second box that you put the NAV disc in and leave it in. They claim that you can do the route changes on the NAV with out having to mess with the disc. I just do not know if the extra 800 bucks they want is worth it.
Gotcha....sounds simular to what I have. I have a AVHP7500 DVD with an AVIC 88. Two seperate units with a higher total price tag. There are a few nice features about going that route. One is you hardly ever have to change out the Nav disc. With the AVIC N1 or N2 you are going to have to occassionally change out the disc. The other is the user interface is a bitt easier to use and has a few more features. Now would notice those features if you just bought a N1 or N2...no I do not think so. I noticed because I went from what I have to a N1 then back. Another item is the cost...N1 is alot less but I think the N2 will be more than the N1. A HUGE feature of the N2 is the traffic Nav. If you plan on using the Nav alot I would go just because of this feature. If I had a N2 in my truck on Friday what should have been a 3 hour trip to Miami but actually took 6 could have been avoided. The traffic Nav feature to me is worth waiting on the N2 and the extra money. If you are going to use the Nav alot like I do.
