Jim, I just wanted you to know. The story about your find on the Polished Creative Masters Cobra is in the March issue of Toy Cars and Models as a part of my monthly column (upper right hand corner on the same page as the Danbury Mint Owen/Corning racing corvette).

Stories like this where someone stumbles into a rare diecast (and in Jim's case...VERY rare diecast!) are always enjoyed by readers. Since I was able to bring to light the significance of Jim's 1/20th scale Cobra, I thought it was only fitting that others should know also. This is part of what collecting is all about, finding the one that you had no idea the significance of or finding something that a seller had no idea of it's worth (the latter one has happened to me only once!).

If you cannot find the issue on the newstand, shoot me an email as I may have an extra copy around to send to you (interesting note, I write for the magazine and just got my copy!)

For those that don't remember the original thread...here's a link to it in the archives...

Here's a link for you if you want to. The site content is a little outdated but they usually get the issue out there on a PDF file a few weeks after the issue is out on the news stands. You need to have a current sub to logon but you can subscribe online.

Brian, I haven't been in the die cast section for some time, and I just received your email, I travel a lot. This is VERY cool! I apologize I never sent you any better pics, tried and I just don't have the camera for it. I will check our local downtown news stand for a copy of the magazine. If I can't find it, I'll write back to see if I can bother you for one. As a side note, I think I mentioned that the other vendor I was working with on the Revell Monogram project also received one of these die cast's. I spoke to him not too long after you enlightened me and the conversation was not pleasant. Apparently he put the car on his desk and it was played with by his children and suffered several broken parts! Who would have thought?

Brian, your a credit to the hobby and I am certainly happy that we encountered one another! I can't wait to see the article!

The Vipers were a part of the original series and to date, the only viper done in that series. As to how many were made is really a mystery. The car was design for the CM series a long time ago. Revell-Monogram did not keep records on how many were made. Many of the cars went back into production again and again to meet the demand.

Here's the long article on the series that was greatly reduced for the magazine.

Thanks Jim...I appreciate that. Too bad about your buddy's cobra. But it happens. I wish I had never played with any of the original series of hot wheels from when I was a kid! I had the entire 1st and sercond series of redlines. If they were pristine today, I could retire and do nothing but write for the magazine. But who knew?

Hell, even the 007 attache' case I had as a kid now goes for serious $$$ with Toy Collectors. See what happens when the fuse blows out on the crystal ball and you never think to replace it?

Should you ever decide to list it on ebay or just sell it in general, let me know and I will make sure you have all the facts for it. There are those collectors that will pay top dollar for it...DON't let it go cheap!

Brian, haven't found a copy of the magazine yet. I'm in Minneapolis this week, staying across from the Mall of America, maybe can locate a shop here. If you have an extra copy, let me know, I could send you a FedEx number you can use to ship it, or can send you a payment.
