AA C5R wings suck!
6 of 8 1:18 C5R cars I have from Autoart all have the wings tilting upward in the front which looks rediculous. I am afraid to mess with them

John, are these on display or out of the boxes? I noticed on
mine that the '99-'01 C5-R's the wing integrity is pretty fragile,
and that little piece of styrofoam that they put in there for
shipping purposes contributes a lot to the wing pointing upward.
The '02-'04 C5-R's build quality is higher and doesn't have the
wing issues the earlier ones have.

I agree. I always leave the styrofoam piece in there when I put them on display.
I am afraid that I will break it...

The styrofoam piece looks bad one display, but they later used a clear plastic piece the held the wings correctly. I have left them on some of mine, because you cannot notice it, near as much as the styrofoam.
Ahh, just found one thats tilted back OK two now
I am not looking any further
Thank's for pointing that out John

My AAs all are up, my Action diecast look correct even the 1/43 scale, below are a few samples from my collection. The first 3 are AA and the next 2 are Action diecast. Rod
AA #3
AA Texas car
AA # 50
Action # 4 raced version
Action 1/43 #2
This is a side view of my 1/12 scale:
Based on this close-up of my AA wing I thinking you don't want to try and bend it or put pressure on it or it just might snap off.

2 words....hair dryer
I had that same problem with my wings on every AA C5R I got. So I did a bit of thinking and tried out my idea on a friends C5R and it worked great.
Take your wife's hair dryer and set it on the "hot" setting, while it heats up to temp have a beer and grab a C5R, don't put the dryer too close or you'll melt the wing. Now place the dryer about 12-18 inches away from the model and slowly warm up the rear wing supports, don't put direct heat on the area, move the dryer back and forth after about 30 seconds you'll be able to move the wing from an up slant to a down slant, hold it there and take the heat away, after about a minute take your fingers off the wing and you should have a nice downword or neutral slant to the wing. If you break the wing off, just utter a curse word have a good slug of beer and glue that puppy back on.
Good luck and happy drinking.
