Default Plastic model question

I looked for the modeling section and couldn't find it. Here's my question. I bought a C6 plastic model and would like to paint it to match my car. Can I use GM spray touch upon the model without damaging the plastic? The guy at the hobby shop didn't know. My car is CRM and will I need a silver undercoat?

Thanks in advance

I build models myself and do it all the time. Won't hurt a thing.

Is this the C6 plastic kit from Revell? One of the ones molded in white? You will want to be careful with it, if so. I was able to get even plastic model spray paints to crinkle and haze on that plastic! The only way I found to protect it is with either Krylon or PlastiKote primers.

You absolutely need to prime it first, then you should have no trouble using it on any plastic model kit.

Many kits have some extra parts, you can always do a test spray first on an unused part, or even on a piece of "parts tree".

As posted above you won't have any issues unless the model is one of the "promo" types where there is usually a light finish already on some of the parts.
