Auto Extras & MemorabiliaAccessories for your Corvette that aren’t budget-busters. Plus, Corvette memorabilia and die cast models (1:24 and 1:18 scale).
The first die cast car I bought, was one of the C-2 Grand Sports, without the numbers and lettering. I didn't know anything about Exoto at the time (around 2001), and actually got the model through a "sale" at Motorbooks.com.
I was blown away by the detail of the car, and eventually purchased a couple of their Chaparrals and Ford GT-40s. It's a shame they don't have a really focused marketing plan, and at the present, it appears that they're simply trying to empty their warehouse, using a "marked up this month, 50% off next month" strategy...
(I can't help myself...I'm still really PO'd that they didn't release the Chaparral 2D that I "pre-ordered" 6-7 years ago"....)
What a sale... $98 for a car that 2 years ago they were selling for less than $40. (the maroon and yellow 67 corvettes) I like how they jack the prices up to a rediculous number to make you think you are getting a deal.Typical Exoto way of doing bussiness.
In 2000 I bought the silver GS roadster for $100 in a high end toy store in NYC. A few years later I pre-ordered the 1/10 1966 Ford GT40 MK II (#2) for $500. I didn't have to pay up front. More than 2 years later it just showed up at my front door, no paperwork - no bill. Five more weeks went by when I got a phone call saying that I owed them $500. I said for what? They about had a heart attack thinking they hadn't delivered the GT. I said I got it and sent them the $$.
It is without a doubt the coolest model car I have ever seen.
The Corvette is VERY cool too.
