I know it's not exactly about my corvette, but it has to do with the car jack I've been using to work on it.
I have this old jack and it seemed to have a bubble in it. I took out the bleed plug, pumped it for a while, and put in some ATF to refill. This made it work temporarily, but now it doesn't work in a different way. It's like it's not able to bring new fluid in to pump it up further. When I pump down, it moves the cylinder outward, but when I lower the handle for another pump, the cylinder returns back into the housing.
Trying to keep this old thing from ending up in the trash heap.
anybody ever fix this kind of thing?
Well I may be half right. Found this .....People tend to ask can I use transmission fluid in a hydraulic jack? Yes, automatic transmission fluid can be used as an alternative as long as the chosen substitute has the correct viscosity.
