I remember that our experiences with die cast dealers was discussed at length, a few months ago. At the time, I expressed my opinion that Exitocar was marginal, at best. I've now changed my mind... I wouldn't deal with them if they were the last store on earth!

A couple of weeks ago, while on my lunch hour, I ws surfing the net die cast stores. Unfortunately, I stopped at Exoticar's site, and saw a 1996 Camaro, the Ron Fellows driven, Sunoco trans am racer. The car was "on sale" at $65. I thought, "What the heck", and typed in an order. I got a confirmation that said the model would be in my hands within 7-10 business days.

10 days go by, no Camaro. 6 AM yesterday morning, I send an e-mail inquiring about the order. No reply by mid afternoon, (still none by this AM) so I call "customer service".

The man I spoke with tells me, "They haven't come in yet". I said, "What do you mean, this is an old GMP release...they're sold out". He replies, "Oh no, your information is incorrect, they haven't come in yet. They'll be in any day".

I called GMP directly, and they confirmed that I was indeed correct, this model went to "sold out" status about 6-7 months ago. He further stated that they no longer deal with Exoticar directly, as they don't particularily like how Exoticar does business. If Exoticar is selling GMP products, they're getting them through a third party.

This is EXACTLY what they did to me last year, when I tried to purchase a "high wing" McLaren Can-Am car. I should have learned then.......

 

I haven't dealt with Exoticrap in years... I spent hundeds of dollars
with them per clip I would order 5-7 cars at a time.. Half of them would be
"Backordered" and the other half would arrive broken.

They are one of the worst diecast retailers to deal with, they absolutely BLOW
and thier prices are over inflated ta boot!

I dealt with Exoticrap for a few years but then got REALLY tired of always having my orders delayed for one reason or another, or getting a car with broken pieces. Not to mention one time i placed an order for 3 cars and all were on backorder......not a problem, but they sent them to me one at a time (as they became available) and charged me shipping for each one individually. :mad And this was after i was quoted one shipping price for all 3, which was cheaper then paying shipping individually. Heck their prices are over inflated and then this.........that was the straw that broke the camels back.....so to speak.

That was 4 years ago......and i have NEVER dealtwith them since. I now use DiecastMuscle as my primary source, and have NEVER had a problem with them......knock-on-wood. :p:

I haven't ordered from them in years as well. My wife started it by buying me the Exoto prototype for my birthday when it was first released. Boy, I'm glad she did too......I get a catalogue every now and then, but I order elsewhere now.

 

I went over there... yes, there are some unhappy campers there too! And yes, I related my experiences to them.....

Muscle, just to clarify, in case there's some confusion...We're talking about Exoticar, the store, not Exoto the importer/manufacturer. They are two separate businesses.
