Auto Extras & MemorabiliaAccessories for your Corvette that aren’t budget-busters. Plus, Corvette memorabilia and die cast models (1:24 and 1:18 scale).
I try to get stuff on sale, mostly under $30 for 1:18 scale. If it is something i like then i will spend what i need to. Most of my Vettes are 1:24 franklin mint, so they go for more.
i haven't bought much lately, but I've been sticking to AutoArt and Exoto/Motorbox. I find I don't like the cheaper ones much when I compare them to my nicer ones. Plus, my display case is pretty much overflowing, so it's "Quality not Quantity" as my current motto.
I'm starting to fall into the "Qaulity not Quantity" boat myself. If it strikes me, I buy it. But I'm finding the PRICEY ones striking me alot more latetly! Still, I'll buy a 200+ and a $25 model in one trip.
I would have to say that most of mine are in over Sixty range
I don't know if this is good or bad, I was in Bobby Allison's NASCAR store yesterday and they had the rereleased Dale Earnhardt '97 crash car in an elite $245.00 , I was told that it was never in an elite before. So I'm thinking if it is a new release then it should be closer to the price of the new releases not the price of much more sought after original car. With that being said, I seem to buy most of mine off ebay.
My tastes have changed in the last few years...I'm now a quality not quanity guy now
I overlook alot of the "crap" that is out there now... Action, Welly's, the "new" Ertles and the God awful 1/18th scale Hotwheels
I mainly stick to Auto Art and if I can find them the older UT models.
I'm looking for deals too...like people selling off their collections....older Revell's, Exotos and the hard to find items like the first Carousels
I would be afraid to figure the average price of my models. I've paid as little as $.50 for a 1960 Corvette promo, and as much as $750 for a 1965 Corvette dealer promo. And, everything in between, for my 158 piece dealer promo collection.
I know I have overpaid and underpaid at times. I to am going for quality over quantity since I am also running out of room.
However I also am looking for 1/18th's of car I actually would like to own. for example I just got two on ebay for 87 total with shipping. A 96 CE vert ( I had a coupe in 1/1 scale) and a 40th anniversary ZR1. Both C4s that I admired as cars, so I wanted them for my collection.
C5rs have also made up a big part of my collection, I just got the gold 2001 action earnhart car, quality not that good but very unique.
I am at the point I most likely will limit myself to new releases the action blue 2003 C5Rs and someday the new C6R's
I started with the cheapies ($15-$25) Maisto & Ertl 5-6 years ago. The last car I purchased was an Exoto Promo. I now only purchase based on quality or limited additions.
