Default 1973 Coupe model needed

Hi all,

I am searching for either a plastic kit or a die-cast model of a 1973 Corvette Coupe. Can anyone help me find it?

Thanks and greetz

Although I've begged for one for years, no such monkey exists in 1/18 diecast. Maybe AutoArt will announce one and we'll get it two years later!
As far as model kits go, they're pretty scarce. AMT produced a 1/24 '73 coupe kit back in '73, and you'll probably find one by keeping an eye on Ebay.
Another option is a promo model. If I recall correctly, the '73 coupe promos came in blue and yellow. There may be some promo collectors here who know for sure.
There is also a blue 1/32 diecast '73 coupe in the Zora collection, but they usually fetch a chunk of change.
I think your best bet is finding the AMT kit on Ebay.

AMT and MPC both, did a 1/25 scale 1973 coupe and convertible kit. MPC did both the coupe and convertible dealer promos, also 1/25 scale. They were offered in Metalic Blue, and, also in Yellow.

One way to get the model you want is to kitbash (use two different kits) to build what you want. I've done this to build cars in the past that no one made models of. In this case you could use either the 70 LT1 snapfast kit or 70 LT1 coupe kits from AMT for the portion of the body from the doors back. I dont know if these kits are still current or not but they can be found easily. Then use the current 78 Pace Car from Revell for the front end and hood. If you dont like to build models then you are probably going to have to get a promo for much more money.

The kitbashing idea is good except the Revell '78 Pace Car is 1/24 and the Ertl cars are 1/25. A better solution maybe to track down one of Ertl's '75 converts from the recent 50th anniversary set for the front half. You'd still have to modify the front bumperettes, but thats a small problem.

I actually did this conversion in the late '70s to build a model for a friend who had a '73 at the time. I used an original '74 for the front and an original '71 for the back... I cut them at the rear door line and the bottom of the windshield frame. Fairly easy conversion.

Good luck - GT

The front bumper on the '78 wouldn't be a good match as it's different from the '73. The front bumper wasn't changed to the '78 style until '75. Probably the best way is just to get a '73 coupe kit from Ebay.
