Default Ouch, My Right Knee Hurts! 2nd Time (C5)

I just got reminded of what happened the first time I AutoXed my Z06 . My right knee gets hammered(on the outside)! I'm not sure if I'm repeatedly smacking the console with it, or if I'm just bracing my body with it to the point of injury.

I really need to do something about this for the next time. I'm thinking about just putting one knee pad on that leg, or attaching some padding to the console instead, or both? Anyone else have this problem, & what did you do to solve it? Or am I just being a wuss ?

I use a set of foam rubber knee pads I got from the hardware store. They work pretty well, and they only cost a couple of dollars.

I went to The Sports Authority and got a rubber neoprene knee support pad. About $8 and haven't bruised since.

You're not alone. I went from a C4, with no problems like that, to a Z06. That is exactly what happened to me too. On an older concrete runway we autox on I noticed it after a 2 day event. Even had a nice bruise to prove it. No problem on the left knee.

I'm alergic to neoprene. Some volleyball knee pads are what a friend uses and that is what I'll be getting this week before my next event. The tall guys driving Miatas run into that problem as I see a few of them wearing knee pads too.

Well, I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one getting bruised up . I have some funky knee pads that I got a while ago, as I recall they don't have much protection on the sides, but I might be able to twist them 90~ & still drive. Either that, or just look for some others with good side protection . Thanks .

Knee pads are the way to go. Harnesses help alot, but I know I can still get bruised on some tracks (like MidOhio.)

I came home from my 1st AutoX with bruises too. knees were hurting for days, and that was with stock seats and a harness. The next week, I ordered an Sparco Evo seat and it was well worth the money.

They are a great investment and well worth the price, but you can't use them and stay in SS class with SCCA Solo II!

That's an interesting item, but I'm wondering how hard/soft the material is. The way I'm figuring it, too hard is no good, & too soft is no good, it has to be juusst right . I was considering making my own, if I found the perfect material.

yes, but with the way things are going now, I'm going to end up with an over weight, underpowered SM2 car by the time I get back to the states

According to the listing it is made of urethane foam. That should be soft enough.
