How often should you replace the front calipers on these cars? I assume the stockers can only deal with so much heat before warping - I think that is the cause of my brake vibration since I have gone through several sets of rotors with similar results. I was thinking about replacing the fronts before my first events this year...thoughts?
it really depends on the pads and the driver. You need to pull them off and measure to make sure they are still square. IE, you need to make sure the piston side and the outter side are parallel to each other. Also, you need to make sure the pistons haven't mushroomed out due to the heat.
They are pretty cheap, so if in doubt, change them.
Mine survived 2 years of track events and that was probably pushing it longer than I should have. Replaced with Wilwoods which I'm eager to try out at the track.
they will "open up" after many years of abuse. The "U" part will get wider, but only under serious abuse. I recently installed the GS calipers, and carry the aluminum ones as spares...
I find the seals melt after the first event. I'm talking the outer dust seals, and I got tired of replacing them. The inner seals I have never had a problem with......
That is my point, replace them before you do. I think the seal kit is like $10 or something. Also, the old seals do not have as much piston pull back so the brake pads can drag more.

Yea, mine have two years worth on them and i think they are shot...I was orignally planning to go with the LGM 6 pot wilwoods, but i have other expenses i need to take care of...so the stockers will do just fine for now. Thanks for the input guys.

4 years on the stock brakes
They were shot...pad taper was ridiculous and pedal pressure was pretty soft no matter how often I bled them. I was also going to replace them with stockers again, but I couldn't resist the group discount on the LG Wilwood set up. It was perfect timing! I am waiting as they are getting powder coated in red to match the rears and they will be going on later this week.
Then the Dewitts and a new cam 2006 is going to be good.
