C4 Camber Issue on '96 GS?
Hey Guys,
Yesterday at the autox I had quite a few people coming up to me telling me that they saw my car getting up to positive 5 to 7 degrees of camber in the rear under acceleration, and around turns. I can tell something is up because it feels sorta unstable, and doesnt really hook up all that well.
Also, my outside edge of my tire corded very fast on the last set of hoosiers.
Is this a common thing? Are their any parts you all can recommend?
thanks
Edit: heres a pic I found of it having some positive camber

Get the car up on stands and check all of the rear suspension components for any looseness or wear. It sounds like something is worn out or a damaged part. Are the shocks new or old?
What alignment specs are you using? Look here at the VetteBrakes "Advanced Street" or "Autocross Baseline" specs.

That's what I'm thinking to.
I'm using new bilstein's revalved by DRM.
and my camber was set to around -1 1/2 in rear.

Something is wrong. Check bushings, wheel bearings, and the camber adjuster for tightness. You should have to crank the crap out of the adjuster bolt.
Randy
PS How are the shocks It maybe hard to tell with the wheel going postive.

This is the GS you helped me with earlier this year. I'll have it back in my shop very soon. I'll keep you posted as to what I find wrong with it. As of right now I’m scratching my head…..The static alignment looks right on the money……All the bushing are new VBP…we know the shocks are right……All new Spicer U Joints.....Fresh 4.10 diff build.....
Do you have the DRM C4 camber strut parts in yet?

I don't know what class you are in, but if you are in AS you are going to have to replace with stock. Or you can replace them with a nice heim jointed rear camber rod kit like I did.
I got mine along with a toe rod kit from Guldstrand. Definately locks in the suspension and gives you a lot more adjustement. Noe more rubber/poly bushing period!

Forgot to mention a good idea is to mark all the bolts, nuts, and settings on the suspension so you can tell if something moved. Especially that eccentric bolt.
Best shot I could get with the car on the ground!

Reason I asked was because I had the same problem.
No squat in the rear causeing the camber to go positive when accelerating
I cured it when I revalved my shocks. Went way soft on the rear and really stiff on the front commpresion.
Of course you could have one of those new bushings binding not allowing the rear to squat.
