85 C4 Spring Question
I'm asking this for a guy at work.
He has a 85 C4 and wants to do a suspension upgrade to get rid of a resonance he gets in the spring. He says he will get this spring hop and the car will shudder if it gets upset over bumps or road cracks.
The car is over 20 years old so he is not looking to put a lot of money in unless he knows its going to fix the problem. If there is no reasonable dollar fix then he might look into putting the money into a new Vette.
He thought of using 96 springs and had talked to VBP but wanted a more confident answer to his question before putting money into it.
His other thought was a adjustable shock where he would try to use the rebound and compression to control the spring shudder.
Thanks

Not likely that it is the springs...
More likely it is a shock or bushing, or ball joint, or bearing problem...
Unless they are sagged or damaged, the springs aren't going to cause what he is talking about... You didn't mention if it was in the front or the back, but look at all of the maintenance items first... Look at ball joints in the front, all of the rubber bushings and look for leakage on the shocks. If all that looks good I would take off each shock and make sure they are all working...
