C6 pad cheaper than OE Z51
Hello,
I have a 2007 C6 Z51 coupe. It's my daily driver and I take it to 1/2 dozen HPDEs each year.
I really like the OE Z51 pads. Works well on the street, works well on the track at my novice skill level. It's dusty but I can live with that. The front pads cost $155 and I can get 2 track days out of them.
My question is: is there a cheaper pad that I could use for the same purpose (daily and novice-level HPDE)?
I'm not looking for a better pad, I'm not skilled enough for that. Just trying to save a few bucks on this.
Thx!

Burning Brakes
Just a thought, cause I am interested in some alternative C6 Z51 pads myself -
Wouldn't the Hawk HP PLUS pads be better then the standard HPS streets in this case, since he takes it to DE's?
As he starts to push the braking limits more on-track, they might be a little less prone to fade - at least that's how Hawk markets them...

Thanks for the replies.
Been doing some googling. Both the HPS and the HP Plus are cheaper than the OE Z51 pads. I'm on the fence between the two. Some people complain of fade with the HPS for HPDEs. The HP Plus is definitely a better track pad, but it's a few bucks more and not great for the cold morning commute to work.
Anyone here tracked with HPS? What was your experience with fade?
Thx!

The HP+ shouldn't be too much of an issue for the cold morning commute. I had Hawk Blacks on my RX7 in Ottawa, just drag the brakes with your left foot from your driveway to the first corner and it's all good.
I have HP+ pads on my street driven Miata; they squeal a bit, but work fine all the time. That said, I have HPS on my Tahoe, and they work fine, too, but I won't be taking the Tahoe on the track. :-)
