how to get heads up display on video? Anyone have success?
I have a Sony mini DV mounted to the harness bar. Would like to figure out a way to get some on track video with the heads up display included. Any body been able to get this setup? Every time I show someone a track tape the want to see the speed with it. I'm not ready to spend $2000 for a Traqmate just to get the speed added to the tape. I know some one has an answer!

the viewing angle is so narrow, you would almost need to mount the camera in your face. Unless you mount the camera directly over your shoulder, I think it will be impossible (maybe even then)

Connect a bullet cam to the camcorder and slide the bullet cam over your ear (like a pencil) inside your helmet and you should get at least some of the hud.
If not marked, mark the top so you can verify it is aligned in the rearview mirror.

That's gotta be one small bullet cam to fit between my head and helmet!

You mean like this?

Youtube's compression hurts the image of the HUD significantly; it looks a lot better at full resolution.
I'm also going to go to a narrower field of view lens to get the HUD to be a bit larger in the FOV.
Camera is a Sony 520 bullet camera I got off of Ebay.
HTH, and have a good one,
Mike
