Tires for AutoX
What are the best tires for relatively low temperatures expected in a "one minute" event.
Yokohama Advan 048 seems to be popular with the Lotus people but I'm not aware of it being a favourite of the Corvette Autocrossers or circuit crowd (why??). Any opinions on Toyo R888 for autocross?
I understand that most racing slicks require higher temperatures than one can realistically attain before or during a one minute event.
I would appreciate some help in this area.

This only applies if you have a C6 as tires are limited.
If you want to win, you will need hoosiers or 710s. If you just want to keep up, the R888 do an okay job. I am having a tough time lowering my times with the R888 at the autox.

How does the Yokohama Advan 048 rate??
I have a 2003 Z06 and have not noticed Yokohama Advan as a common solution. They are great with other cars and quite durable.

tmak26B told you. You need Hoosier A6s. If you use anything else you will be giving an advantage to the competition.

Unfortunately, Kumho does not offer 19" tires in the V710.
However, Hoosier does. Hoosier A6
They are available in 275/35-18 for the Front, and either 325/30-19 or 345/30-19 for the Rear.

I am pretty sure the Advan 048 is the STOCK tire on the Lotus with the sport package. That may account for it's popularity.

Get the stickiest tires you can get, don't compromise....
Free uncompetitive tires are a sh!44y deal,
been there, done that, it wasn't fun
Paying good money for uncompetitive tires is even more stupid...

Gonz is right about the Advans being stock on the Lotus. These 'cheater' tires were designed specifically for those cars. They would make good Street Tire class tires, but don't really stand a chance against an A6 on a Corvette - everything else being equal.
You should look at the Hoosier site for their new 315-30-19 size as well.
I'm planning to use 285/18 A6's up front and 315/19's in back for SuperStock on my '08 Z51 C6 when I finally get a set of autocross-only wheels.
And -YES- they WILL fit the stock wheels. RX-8 drivers have run these 285-30-18's on EIGHT-inch wide wheels for years with excellent results. It would be great if our 8.5" C6 front wheels were wider, but we must make do with what we have in stock classes..

Yeah, gotta agree with you there... Nobody said that doin' it right would be easy !!
Try installing 275-35/18 Hoosier's onto 7.5-inch wheels like I used to when running my Boxster S in Stock. T'was no party...

I ran a track prepared elise for the last 3 years track and autox, I ran the advan 048 for a while, expensive, heat cycle out fast and are not as sticky as the hoosiers , go A6 for autox, or 710s, go R6 for track or R888 toyo for a drive to track tire. The advan are not in c6 sizes yet. The pilot sport cups are good but expensive and not exact sizes.
We need more c6 tire choices.

You are going to lose 1-2 sec by getting tires other than A6 or 710. I run the R888 because I am only allow one set of tires a year. I need a tire that can drive 100 miles to and from event, to work and to the track or autox. I am giving up a lot for autox, but I can hold my own on the track.
