Michelin PS2's or Nitto INvo's ???
I was going to post this in the Z06 section but my real concern is tracking (autocrossing) the car. After 4,600 miles including a road trip to Road America, (8) 20-25 minute sesssions there, the drive back, back and forth to work for 2 months, some WOT tuning of the big cube LS7 and a 6 laps at the Colorado state patrol track yesterday.. my rear stock GY EMT's are at the cords at the mercy of 660+ hp.
I've read a ton of posts on the +/- of the PS2's ( $1750/set) and the INvo's ( $1300/set) but didn't really see anything from people who have run these tires in competition. My tire replacement requirements are as follows..
1) I drive the car to work 2-4 times per week (13 miles each way on a toll road)
2) I will be driving the car year around, but I have the wifes L92 Denali when I need it.
3) Don't really need run flats
4) Have a set of dedicated HPDE CCW wheels that I will be mounting R6tires to in the spring for HPDE's and TT's.
I'm just looking for a tire that will give me good lowspeed/autocross performance and more than 4,600 miles of service..BTW, my last set of run flat supercars on my CTS-V only lasted 7,500 miles. These things seem to convex cup in the middle almost like they have too much air pressure as there is still plenty of tread on the sides (2-4/10ths)

I have not run the Invo so I can not comment on them. I have run the NT555 on two different vehicles with good results. I did DEs and ran them on a daily bases as well. I got 25,000 miles out of them.

I put Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 ZP's on my C5 and love them over the stock OEM tires. I don't track the C5 but I have a C6Z06 that I do track and plan on putting the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 ZP's on it when they come out, which is suppose to be in the near future. I hope it's fairly soon for the OEM tires will only go maybe one more track event. I would go with the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2's because they are made in the U.S.A if for no other reason. I'm partial to made in the U.S.A stuff but that's just me.

I am running Dunlop Direzza star specs on the front and love them. DD with a 42 mile round trip and a few 600 mile biz trips. Awesome tire for AutoX and DD duty. Safe in heavy rain, great in dry, stick great for a 200 UTG tire.
Just put the new Kumho Ecsta XS on the rear. Very good on the street and so far so good with with two AutoXs. Still need to knock off some tread before I get the grip I'm expecting (hoping?).
Missed the Z06 part - sizes won't work...

P2's are a LOT of cash for just a street tire? How many events are you really going to be doing before the spring when you get your r compounds? I would imagine from Nov-Mar will be mostly street driving in not so great conditions vs track days or auto-x. No matter what tire you buy, none will work well in the cold weather, so it's almost a mute point unless you live in FL or CA. Point being, cold weather = poor traction, so why spend big $$$$ on sticky tires in the "off" season when you are getting Hoosier's in the spring? Go with the cheaper set INVO, and save your money for REAL tires (Hoosier).

I have PS2's on my car as the daily drivers, when I am not racing the car. I also use them as my intermediate rain tires at the track.
I don't have 600+ hp but am close and they have never disappointed me. I think they are one of the best rain tires around and since you are driving the car to work that should be an important consideration.

Personally I like the INVOs. Pretty good tire for the money. I had the Pilot Sport Cups for my street tire, but at like $2K for a set of 4 19in I figure I would look else where.
along came the INVOs so I figure I would give them a try. I have not used them on the track, but I can tell you on the street they are pretty good.

Kuhmo just came out with a new tire called the SX. It is not officially a "competition" tire, but is is classified just under an R compound and is designed for auto-x/racing use. From what I am reading it is similar to the compound that comes on GT2/3's from the factory (hybrid sport cup tires). Not full R compound, but as close as you can get on the street. Their website states it does come in C6Z sizes and usually Kuhmo's are fairly inexspensive.

great info and feedback guys. I may have a line on a set of PS2's at w/in $200 o fteh invo's so I'll most likely go that route. I agree with the cold weather statement. My last two cars CTS-V and now the C6Z came with the supercar tires. The CTS V was worthless with 1" of snow or more...not to mention under 40 degrees

Nitto said they will have the Invo out in C6Z06 rear size by early next year.

I have gotten 20k+ miles out of front PS2s with some track days on them too (3 or 4). what's the point of going with a cheaper tire and saving $200 if it lasts half as long? My rears have about 35-40k and 3 years on them and it's time to replace, they are below the wear bars but still work ok.
i would need to hear a VERY GOOD argument to go with anything else for street use at this point.
