17x11 wheel - 315 or 335 on the rear? opinions please
I'm getting new race rubber - mostly high speed and low speed auto x. Maybe a track day mixed in once a year. Kumho V710s have been my tire of choice for several years.
I now have 17x11 wheels on all four corners - 315/35/17 tires are going on the front.
What are the advantages/disadvantages of using 335s on the rear? Will the 315 perform better or worse on the 11" wheel?
96 CE LT4 is the car.
Thanks!

Melting Slicks
I have run 315 and 335 Hoosiers on 17x11 on the rear of my 96. I was using 17x11 ZR1 wheels in the GS Offset (50mm), and I had rubbing on the trailing arm bracket. The 335 really needs a 12" wheel to fit properly, as it balloons out on an 11". The 315 fits so much better on an 11" and doesn't rub. I have seen people run 335 Kumhos on 11's but it didn't look any better than my Hoosiers.
I think the 315 is just as fast as a 335 on an 11" wheel, and fits better. I would run the 315's.

Advanced
I autocross a 91 ZR-1, and run 335's on the rear w/an 11" wheel. A 12" wheel would be better but the A6s seem to fit well enough. Granted my bodywork is different but in order to get cheap 11" wheels (knock-off A Molds) I'm using the 50mm offset with a spacer in the rear.
I am limited by rear traction so the larger tire seemed sensible to me. The grip of 315s in front is hard to match.
Good luck,
- Jeff
