Was in South Carolina attending the BMW Performance Driving school. I got to rip on X5M, 135, M5 and M3. Amazing and it was my first time doing a performance driving school. I can hardly wait to go again now! I have been a 1/4 mile guy my whole life and now all I can think about is getting my C6Z at Mosport and running the car with John or Devon Powell to instruct me on how to run this beast! Awww crap this is going to get expensive for me isn't it WHAT A BLAST!
Awww crap this is going to get expensive for me isn't it?
Yup.
OTOH, you'll have more fun with your Z06 than you could ever dream of on the 1/4 mile. Think about how many passes you would have to make for one 20 minute session!
Welcome to our 12 step program. Wait, this is the sickness, and the only solution is track time!
Just don't get caught up in the car mod fantasy; you've got at least a couple of years ahead of you before you get even close to the car's limits.
I have been around racing my whole life. One important thing to learn. A divorce will take away racing for a couple years, it happens everytime. So you have to figure out the find line between married and divorced.
If I can recommend one thing... start by spending your first few events at Shannonville. Sure, it's not Mosport for the fun factor, or the big name, but it's also not Mosport in that you won't scare the living beegeesus out of yourself. Shannonville is a great place to learn and much less likely to cause you harm. :-)

It is a creeping addiction and constant adrenalin rush. Welcome to the dark side ---- Now you will be able to see what the z was really designed for ---

Mosport is one hell of a track, you will love it, but I seen what it can do to a vette, so unless you have lots of seat time at MIR, I also would recommend some seat time at Shannonville and/or Mosport DDT first.
Being bit is just the beginning! The disease will soon spread to your whole body and every fiber your being will be focused on getting the car ready for the next track event. And sadly there is no antidote that exists.
Are you guys coming down for the NASA/PDA May 3-4 session like last year?
How many from the Canadian Contingent are coming this year?
Yes we'll be there for May 3-4. I think we are about 12 cars strong this year. Apparently PDA is having to rope off a section of the garage for us and you'll need to show your passport to gain entry!

That's awesome. They stack us instructors on top of each other But it's all about you guys anyway. I'm glad Joe, Jay and the guys are doing that for you.
I'll have to bring my passport and old visa. I lived in Saskatchewan for 5 years. My youngest, 13 now, was born there and has dual citzenship.
Look me up when you're down. Mag Red C5 coupe with WG blue stripes on the drivers side #23x
It doesnt help that all your buds will be at the track ( at a real track, not that straight line 11 sec crap) lol
We wil take very good care of you, you will get a ton of positive instruction and before you know it, I will be giving you the point by
Now get signed up for Watkins Glen and come down with all of us
Dude by the time that happens we'll be driving wheel chairs WG is still too early for me...I really want to actually drive my car and get slightly comfortable with it before I sit down to get some instruction. Patience Buddy!!!

Was wondering how long it was going to take before Greg and Steve piped up ( Cdn Buds ) ...I agree with all of the statements and have no desires to mod immediatly. The car is modded already so the only thing I actually wanted to do was a new Kenwood Nav system and probably coilovers. Thats it. But most important to me is learning how to drive the car first and doing it in an environment that is geared for that. I had such an amazing time being taught by Jim Clark at BMW. I actually learned that going slower means being faster I am still laughing my azz off. I have such an appreciation for the M3 but I also know it is no C6Z either Let the fun begin

There are always great instructors at WG. Many of the BMWCCA guys are there also. Ed, the classroom instructor has probably forgotten more about driving WG than most of us will ever know.
Make the trip, you will be glad you did.
WG was the first time I ever tracked my Vette...or any car for that matter.
