Default Fuel/turn issue

My 96 lt4 need to have more than a half tank of gas to avoid it cutting out on the track.

The problem occurs especially in fast sudden turns.

Is this normal on C4´s used at track days? What can be done, other than making sure you start out with a full tank..?

My GS would be OK over 1/4 tank on the street in some real hard turns.

If it really bugs you then you need to make a collection tank which will always have fuel and never starve. We did that in offshore race boats.

I have never had the problem on the street either, but when you really push the car on the track it will cutout with below about 1/2 tank on gauge.

I put a new fuel pump & sock on my 96 & it was MUCH better. Had to be below 1/4 to get it to fuel starve.

It's not a tough fix, all you have to do is take the fuel pump assembly out of the tank.
Look down in the tank and you will see a little plastic tray, it's there to keep fuel in it while cornering, etc. When they installed the fuel pump assemblies they didn't bend the tubes down far enough to be completly inside the tray. All you have to do is bend it down a bit and you're problem is gone.
I used to have problems when I had anything just under 1/4 tank. Now I can run the car down to reserve at the track before it acts up.
Do a search in C4 tech they probably have a thread with pictures. Not tough though.

Same thing I did.

Also clean the fuel level wires while you're there. And it may need a new seal around the tank. You could put some fuel cell foam in there too.

Fuel pumps wear out & the sock gets clogged.

Also what these other guys said, make sure the pickup is all the way down.
